Yogurtistan - Virtual World Startup

background

My first job after university was at Yogurt Computer Technologies. It was an old and reputable digital agency in İstanbul. When I joined, the company had already transitioned into a startup with their flagship project Yogurtistan. Yogurtistan was a 3D virtual world made in Flash targeting browsers. The aim was to provide an alternative to Second Life in the age of Facebook embedded apps. The project also featured and open marketplace through ability to set up virtual shops and trade real life items within in-app economy.

I have joined the company as a junior developer. Initially my responsibilities were just client side development. However later I have took on the most avoided but valuable task of tool development as well. “Death of Flash” hit the company hard, but the company went on longer for a while. Yet its eventual demise was unavoidable. So I have left the company and founded a new digital agency with my colleagues.
